Black Light Animals are a psychedelic soul band based out of the midwest. Combining a love of soul music, fuzzed out guitars, hip hop beats, and old Italian movie scores, the quintet released their debut record, “Playboys of the Western World” to critical acclaim in 2020 in the middle of a global pandemic. The album couldn’t have been more prescient, as it tackled themes of loneliness, isolation, and social media obsession soundtracked by an imaginary long lost Italian horror movie score.
They followed that up with two singles: “Persephone”, a string laden homage to the records of Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra, and their most recent, "Pink Lemonade", a 4 on the floor disco fever dream that signals the ever evolving sound of the band.
